6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Library Program Room

Members of the Homestead High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) will give a multimedia presentation of their award-winning annual projects. See our community’s future leaders in action today.  This program is free and appropriate for adults, teens, and older children.

Each year, thousands of students across the country design year-long projects to increase their understanding of business and develop career skills. Outstanding projects are judged in state and national competitions, where Homestead students have excelled, capturing 13 consecutive State championships and representing California at Nationals. In this fourth annual Library program, a record number of students will present their work.

Here are descriptions of the planned presentations for this year’s event:

American Enterprise focused on career planning this year. Hear about how members learned to make successful career choices, discovered the art of networking, and practiced crucial public speaking skills.

Community Service worked with Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital, and promoted healthy living to students and the surrounding community.

Partnership with Business worked with Neurosky, a brain-computer interface technology company that designs products that can be used to control objects without using your hands! Team members helped market Neurosky’s product, the Mindset, and were featured on the local news.

*Business Financial Plan: FBLA members developed a business financial plan to purchase and operate a Coffee Bar. Their aim was to turn the business into a health-conscious cafe catering to individual tastes.

*Business Presentation: A nationwide shortage of K-12 business education teachers now exists. FBLA members created a business presentation to mount a marketing campaign to address this shortage.

*Business Plan: FBLA members present a business plan proposal that they conceived and developed. They will go through all the key points of a real business plan. Listen and see for yourself if you would invest in this company.

Digital Video Production: FBLA members prepared a video for a retail business to help train employees on methods of preventing theft.

*E-Business: The e-business team created a website to celebrate Homestead High School’s hypothetical 50th anniversary. It’s classy. It’s snazzy. Come and see how a celebration should really happen!

*= These presentations were based on hypothetical case-study scenarios and were not implemented in real life.
